Surfing in Barbados
Surfing in Barbados – The most consistent breaks are South Point and Brandon’s. There are other amazing spots, such as Surf Barbados Freights Bay and Accra
While it is possible to find bigger and more consistent waves in some other special surf spots around the world it is not easy to better the wonderful mix of easy-going beach life, in year round sunshine where not only is the water warm but so too is the friendliness of the people. Barbados has a superb mixture of un-spoilt charm and sophisticated convenience that puts it among the most ideal locations for a surfing holiday worldwide.
From the renowned Soup Bowl on the east coast to Brandon’s on the south the island offers a variety of breaks to suit everyone from the discerning professional to the fresh beginner. With quality surf schools like Alan Burke’s among others available to offer lessons or advice there are plenty of places to purchase or rent equipment should choose to travel light.
But don’t take our word for it, just ask arguably the best surfer in the world, Kelly Slater what he thinks of Barbados and you’re likely to chalk it up as somewhere you will need to come and see for yourself.
